Common problems that can cause unnecessary service calls.
Being in the restaurant repair business for over 30 years servicing the Akron Canton area, Summit County, Portage County and Stark County we have seen many problems on grills, charbroilers, fryers, steamers, hot wells, booster heaters and dishwashers that could save you "the customer" money and maybe even eliminate a service call by checking a few things before calling for service.
Below is a list of easily fixed problems that can cause you to go down right when you need that equipment the most.
Note: none of these checks should be preformed by the customer if they do not have authorization to do so or the technical skills.

Is your gas line all the way connected? Sometimes the quick disconnects will get grease built up and cause them to not lock on all the way which could cause the gas line to come off resulting in equipment not getting gas and/or a possible gas leak.

Is the gas line (valve) turned off? Sometimes when cleaning behind equipment the gas valve can get knocked to the off position by the mop or broom.

Is the equipment plugged into the appropriate outlet? Sometimes when cleaning behind equipment the plug can get knocked out by the mop or broom. If the unit is plugged in, does it have a GFI and is it tripped? Is the breaker off or tripped in the breaker box?

Is the high-limit tripped? The high-limit will normally be a red button. When tripped, if the red button is pushed in it will click and you should be able to hear and/or feel it click.
